Assistant Principal-Christina Gonzalez-Ornelas

Mrs. Gonzalez-Ornelas has worked in education for over 12 years and embraces each new opportunity to work with students, teachers, staff, and the community.  Mrs. Gonzalez-Ornelas is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she earned her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology, and then continued at National University to earn her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, Masters in Education, and her Administrative Services Credential.

Starting her career in our neighboring district, Santa Paula Unified School District (SPUSD), she taught as an elementary and middle school teacher.  During this time she also worked in the community in various capacities which include a Migrant Speech and Debate Coach, Independent Study Teacher, Tutor, Algebra Summer Academy Teacher, Administrator Designee at Isbell Middle School, and SPUSD High School Girls and AYSO Soccer Coach. Most recently Mrs. Gonzalez-Ornelas has worked with our English Learner students and families as Fillmore Unified School District (FUSD)'s Coordinator of Special Populations.

Mrs. Gonzalez-Ornelas loves being an educator, supporting and empowering students to reach their goals.  She prides herself in serving the families in Fillmore and knowing that the work she is doing is uplifting the community.  She applauses all the great work that has been done at Fillmore Middle School and is eager to "hit the ground running" to support the FMS momentum!

Education is in her "genes!" She comes from a family of educators; many of her aunts and cousins are elementary teachers, one is a high school science teacher, another sister is a high school counselor, and her brother is currently studying to be a Special Education teacher.

Mrs. Gonzalez-Ornelas is married to Richard Ornelas, a Planning and Scheduling Supervisor for a local pharmaceutical company.   They have one crazy ball of energy, Lucas, who will be beginning Kindergarten in a Dual Language Immersion program this year.   Her world is filled with family events and extracurricular activities with her son, 2 nieces and 3 nephews. The eldest nephew is starting his sophomore year at Hueneme High School, and she is eager to watch Fillmore vs. Hueneme this football season.  Family is her everything and she hopes to extend her family into Fillmore Middle School.

Mrs.  Gonzalez- Ornelas is excited, optimistic, and appreciative to be working as the Fillmore Middle School's Assistant Principal.  She is confident this year is going to be positive, impactful, and fun for students, staff, and families!
